Tsinghua Alumni Performing Arts Group (TAPAG)
Founded in late 2008,the Tsinghua Alumni Performing Arts Group (TAPAG), is a registered non-profit organization made of Tsinghua University alumni with passion in performing arts. TAPAG’s mission is to promote and organize social and cultural activities among Tsinghua alumni, Chinese communities and the multicultural Canadian society, particularly in the Greater Toronto Area. TAPAG has grown into more than 80 registered members and formed a choir, a dancing troupe and a folk arts group. Most of the members used to be leaders in arts and sports while at school, are now working professionals who share their passion and dedication in building community through performing arts such as nursing home visiting performances, performance in anniversary of the Sichuan earthquake, the Celebration of 60th Anniversary of PRC National Day, CPAC Summer Festival, Chinese Spring Festival, the Lantern Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival, and many multi-cultural events.
Headed by Art Director Ms. Hongmei Cai, TAPAG is fortunate to receive guidance and encouragement from famous musician Roy Cheng, Quan Tan, Shifang Ping, Erhe Liang, Sir AndrewDavis and other local and international musicians. The Choir’s multiple stage performances are based on weekly rehearsals where chosen repertoires and vocal technique are worked on. Besides, some of members take private vocal lessons themselves to polish their technique.
